Daniil Medvedev holds the eighth and final automatic qualifying position for the 2026 Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, carrying 2,870 points in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin after winning the Hangzhou ATP 250 in late September. That title, his third of the year alongside Brisbane and Dubai, moved him onto the cutline. His point total is less than half that of sixth-place Frances Tiafoe (3,330), and the Asia swing still has live tournaments where players ranked 9th through 12th can leapfrog him in a single week.
Prediction markets on Kalshi and Polymarket now price Medvedev's qualification probability at 71%, up 11 percentage points in three days. Kalshi lists him at 70%; Polymarket at 72%. The spread is tight, suggesting agreement across platforms. Earlier this summer the same contract traded at 50%, meaning the market has moved 21 percentage points from its period low to its current level.

Hangzhou Title Fuels the 11pp Move, but 71% Still Implies Real Risk
Medvedev defeated compatriot Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4 in the Hangzhou final to claim his 24th career ATP title. The timing was critical. A 250-level title delivers fewer Race to Turin points than a Masters 1000 or 500-level event, but it was enough to move Medvedev from outside the top eight into the last qualifying seat. Before the tournament, his implied probability was hovering near 60%. The win provided the specific catalyst for the 11-percentage-point jump.
Still, 71% leaves a roughly 1-in-3 chance he misses Turin entirely. That probability captures everything the market knows about remaining schedule difficulty, rival form, and Medvedev's own inconsistency during the middle months of 2026. The contract's journey from 50% to 71% tells a clear story of recovery, not of certainty.
Who Can Overtake Medvedev? The Players Within Striking Distance
The Race to Turin standings as of late September show a crowded bubble. Above Medvedev, Arthur Fils sits 7th with 3,150 points and Frances Tiafoe holds 6th at 3,330. Both have enough cushion that a single poor result would not drop them, but neither is safe. Below Medvedev, the players ranked 9th through approximately 12th are the real threat.
A Masters 1000 title is worth 1,000 points. A runner-up finish at that level delivers 650. Either result would be sufficient for a player sitting a few hundred points behind Medvedev to jump him outright. The remaining calendar includes Shanghai (Masters 1000), the European indoor swing, and Paris-Bercy (Masters 1000) before the November 15 cutoff. Each of those events is a potential reshuffling mechanism.
The official Nitto ATP Finals site noted in September that potential debutants like Cobolli, Tiafoe, and Fils were all in the mix. Medvedev is the veteran in the group, having qualified for the Finals multiple times before, but experience does not add Race points.
The Case Against Medvedev at 71%
The strongest argument that the market is too generous: Medvedev's 2,870 points came disproportionately from 250-level events. His three titles (Brisbane, Dubai, Hangzhou) are all ATP 250s. He has not reached a Masters 1000 final in 2026. That pattern suggests he can beat good players over a week but has struggled against top-five opponents in deeper draws. If a rival ranked 9th or 10th catches fire at Shanghai or Paris, the points available at those events dwarf what Medvedev has been accumulating.
Consider the math: the gap between Medvedev (2,870) and the players directly above him is already 280 to 460 points. The gap between Medvedev and the 9th-place player is narrower. One strong week at a 500 or 1000 event for a chaser, combined with an early exit for Medvedev, could erase his margin entirely. He does not control his own destiny because his points floor requires him to keep winning at smaller events just to tread water.
The counterpoint is that Medvedev has proven he can string together results when motivated by year-end positioning. His three titles show sustained competitiveness across different surfaces and conditions. But 71% should price in the reality that the remaining schedule offers far more points to his rivals than he has collected all year.
What Comes Next for the ATP Finals Qualifying Race
Resolution arrives November 15, when the top eight in the Race to Turin are locked in for the Finals at Inalpi Arena. Between now and then, Shanghai, Basel, Vienna, and Paris-Bercy all carry meaningful point allocations. The live standings tracker on the ATP Finals qualification odds page will reflect each result in real time.
Medvedev's position is the definition of a binary outcome in sports betting: he is technically qualified today, but his margin is thin enough that a single tournament could move him in or out. At 71%, the market is saying his Hangzhou title was real, his form is genuine, and the remaining calendar favors him slightly more than it favors his chasers. Whether that's the right read depends entirely on what happens in Shanghai.
