Trump's 2026 Travel Calendar Is Filling Fast, and Colorado Isn't On It
President Trump confirmed back-to-back commitments that bracket the rest of August: a three-day appearance at the inaugural Patriot Games at Spire Academy in Northeast Ohio from August 9 to 11, followed by the Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race in Washington, D.C. on August 22-23. He also recently wrapped a campaign-style rally at a Las Vegas casino, checking Nevada off the list. Those three confirmed destinations have consumed the near-term scheduling bandwidth of a president who already splits time between Mar-a-Lago, Bedminster, and the White House.
Colorado has no confirmed event, rally, fundraiser, or policy visit on the public schedule. That absence is the entire story. On prediction markets tracking which states Trump will visit before the December 31, 2026 resolution deadline, Colorado's implied probability has fallen from 42% to 30% in just three days. Kalshi prices it at 27%; Polymarket at 32%. The 5-point spread between platforms reflects genuine uncertainty, but both agree on direction: down, and fast.

Colorado's Market Odds Collapse 13 Percentage Points in Three Days
The speed of this repricing rules out a gradual sentiment drift. A 13-percentage-point decline over 72 hours is a reactive market processing new information, not a slow bleed from fading enthusiasm. The period low hit 26% before a modest bounce to the current 30%, suggesting some buyers stepped in near the floor but lacked the conviction to push a full recovery.
The timing is precise. Colorado's probability held steady above 40% through early August. The collapse began when the Ohio and D.C. dates became public, and accelerated after the Las Vegas rally confirmed Nevada as a checked box. Traders appear to be doing simple arithmetic: fewer open calendar slots mean lower odds for any unconfirmed state.
Why Every Trump Visit to Ohio or Nevada Is a Loss for Colorado's Chances
This market resolves on a binary question for each state: did Trump physically visit before January 1, 2027? But the states are not independent variables. Presidential travel is constrained by logistics, security, and political priorities. Every day Trump spends in Ohio is a day he is not in Colorado. Every weekend consumed by a D.C. spectacle is one fewer weekend available for a Denver fundraiser or a rally in Colorado Springs.
Count the remaining days. From August 8 to December 31, 2026, there are roughly 145 calendar days. Subtract weekends spent at personal residences. Subtract holidays. Subtract the confirmed Ohio trip (three days), the D.C. race (two days), and whatever midterm campaign swing emerges in October (likely targeting competitive Senate and House seats). Subtract foreign travel obligations. The realistic number of available out-of-state domestic travel days probably lands somewhere between 30 and 50.
Colorado is competing against dozens of other states for those slots. Unlike Nevada (a perennial swing state) or Ohio (home to competitive House races and now the Patriot Games), Colorado lacks an obvious draw. The state's sole House seat in play, the 3rd Congressional District, does have Trump's backing: he re-endorsed Republican Rep. Jeff Hurd in March 2026. But endorsements travel by social media post, not by Air Force One.
The zero-sum logic is straightforward. Confirmed visits to rival states don't just add certainty elsewhere. They subtract probability from Colorado.
The Case for Colorado: Why This Market Could Be Underpricing a Trump Visit
Dismissing Colorado entirely at 30% requires ignoring several credible scenarios. First, midterm campaign strategy. If Republicans target Colorado's 3rd District or any statewide ballot initiative, a presidential visit becomes a plausible late-October or November play. Campaign schedules are notoriously fluid. The entire second half of September and October could reshuffle around polling data that doesn't exist yet.
Second, Colorado has hosted presidential visits for reasons beyond elections. Military installations like Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs have historically drawn presidents for ceremonies, briefings, and commencement addresses. The Air Force Academy graduation cycle typically falls in late May or early June, which has already passed, but ad hoc military visits are never off the table.
Third, the market may be overweighting the current schedule and underweighting randomness. A natural disaster, an impromptu fundraiser for a down-ballot candidate, or a change of plans after the D.C. race could easily produce a Colorado trip. Four and a half months is a long time. At 30%, the market is saying there is roughly a one-in-three chance Trump sets foot in Colorado. That feels aggressive to the downside given the length of the remaining window, but the absence of any concrete catalyst makes a strong bull case difficult to construct right now.
The honest assessment: 30% is low but not absurd. The market is pricing in the calendar squeeze correctly. Whether it is overshooting depends entirely on information that doesn't exist yet, namely fall campaign strategy and the unpredictable churn of presidential scheduling. Traders willing to buy at 27% on Kalshi are betting that the next four months will produce at least one reason for Trump to visit. Those selling at 32% on Polymarket are betting the calendar stays crowded. Both sides have a case. Right now, the sellers have more evidence.
