Will the US Take a Stake in Unusual Machines? No Deal Yet, but the Market Is at 40%

As of Oct. 19, 2026, the US government has no confirmed stake in Unusual Machines (NYSE American: UMAC), and the "Which companies will the US take a stake in this year?" market prices it at 40%. The only reported government link is the Pentagon funding talks the Wall Street Journal first reported on May 27. Those talks covered debt and equity financing, with the Office of Strategic Capital involved. As of the latest coverage, no agreement had been signed and the Defense Department was still conducting due diligence, Prediction.com reported on Oct. 16.

Unusual Machines rose from about 33% on Oct. 16 to 40% on Oct. 19, a gain of roughly 7 percentage points. That is about 10 points above its period low of 30%. We found no Unusual Machines announcement in that window that would explain the move. The company's latest headlines came earlier: an added $20 million investment in XTEND AI Robotics on Sept. 9, and CEO Allan Evans's appointment as XTI Aerospace chairman on Oct. 14.

The two venues disagree sharply. Kalshi prices Unusual Machines at 30% and Polymarket at 50%, so the blended figure is not a reliable consensus.

Anduril's Arsenal-2 and GlobalFoundries Deals Are the Nearby Catalysts

The equity news in the same window came from other companies. At Sparrows Point, Trump said taxpayers will take a 40% stake in Arsenal-2, Anduril's new Baltimore submarine shipyard. The project costs $6.6 billion, with $3.7 billion from Anduril and up to $2.9 billion from the Navy, according to InsideDefense and Fox News Digital. On Oct. 14-15, Trump also announced a GlobalFoundries deal that roughly doubles the government's stake to about 8%. Trump says that stake is worth more than $2 billion.

These deals add to a portfolio of roughly 35 government stakes, including Intel (about 10%), MP Materials and USA Rare Earth. The market asks whether the administration keeps signing deals, and that is happening. On Oct. 15, POLITICO reported that the FAA is seeking an ownership stake in Air Space Intelligence.

Not every federal financing is equity. The Office of Strategic Capital's $80 million Antheia commitment on Oct. 17 is a conditional loan, not a stake. The same office is in the UMAC talks, so a UMAC deal could also take the form of debt.

The timing lines up, but we could not establish that traders priced Unusual Machines off these deals.

What Would Confirm or Reverse the Unusual Machines Odds

A YES outcome requires an announced government equity stake in Unusual Machines. The talks reported by the WSJ in May have produced no public agreement in nearly five months. Political scrutiny adds friction. Donald Trump Jr. is a shareholder and advisory board member, and in May Sen. Elizabeth Warren questioned Defense Secretary Hegseth about a $12.8 million DoD contract awarded to the company.

The 7-point gain could unwind without any new statement if the window for a deal keeps shrinking. Three other outcomes would weigh on the price: a deal structured only as a loan, a stake taken in Performance Drone Works or Neros instead, or months more of due diligence.
