  • Traders are giving Utah more credit as a Hellebuyck landing spot, but the newest trade report points mainly at Buffalo, with Utah mentioned only as a fallback.

No, Connor Hellebuyck has not been traded to Utah, and no agreement sends him there as of Oct. 13, 2026. On Kalshi, the Utah Mammoths in the Connor Hellebuyck's Next Team market climbed from 2% to 9% over three days, a gain of about 7 percentage points. Utah is reportedly one of three front-runners, alongside Buffalo and Carolina. Hellebuyck holds a full no-movement clause for 2026-27, so he must approve any destination.

He has skipped training camp and is suspended by the Jets, per The Fourth Period.

The MarkerZone Report: Sabres Push a Three-Way Deal With the Rangers, Not Utah

MarkerZone reported on Oct. 13 that Buffalo is pushing a three-way trade. In that structure, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen would go to the New York Rangers, Hellebuyck would go to Buffalo, and Winnipeg would receive assets. The Rangers are involved because Luukkonen reportedly has Winnipeg on his no-trade list, and New York needs a goalie after Igor Shesterkin's season-ending injury. Elliotte Friedman had already dismissed a direct Hellebuyck-to-New York fit on cap grounds, according to NDTV.

The report mentions Utah only as a fallback: it says Carolina and Utah are still lurking if the three-way math falls apart. We could not establish why Utah's price rose on a Buffalo-focused story.

Utah's case rests on assets and reported interest. Karel Vejmelka ($4.75M AAV through 2029-30) has reportedly been part of the Utah mix, along with Sebastian Cossa, first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, and prospects such as Tij Iginla and Caleb Desnoyers. David Pagnotta still lists Utah among the three likeliest destinations. Fitting the $8.5M cap hit is the first obstacle: Utah's reported cap space of about $4.58M means salary would have to go back to Winnipeg.

Two facts cut against reading 9% as momentum toward Utah:

  • Buffalo is the team attached to the active report.
  • A return to Winnipeg is drawing discussion. Friedman says talk of a Jets return is gaining, per Gino Hard, though teammates are reportedly unhappy about that prospect.

Winnipeg's 3-1-1 start, with Skinner and Stevenson playing well, reduces the Jets' urgency. The club reportedly wants at least two young players, or one key piece plus prospects and picks.

What Could Confirm or Reverse Utah's Hellebuyck Odds

Two developments would support the move: a credible report of renewed Winnipeg-Utah talks, or word that Hellebuyck has approved Utah as a destination under his no-movement clause.

Three developments would undercut it:

  • The Buffalo three-way framework advancing with the Rangers.
  • A concrete step involving Carolina, where Alexander Nikishin has been discussed as a trade piece.
  • Hellebuyck ending his holdout in Winnipeg.

The sources show no scheduled deadline or announcement. The market resolves Nov. 1, 2026.
