Will Bitcoin Hit $85,000 in October? Traders Now Say 60%
Traders give Bitcoin a 60% chance of hitting $85,000 in October on Polymarket's "What price will Bitcoin hit in October?" market. BTC needs about 3.5% to get there after rebounding to $82,152, according to TokenPost, from a drop below $80,000 on Oct 15. That sell-off followed a hot September PPI report and about $483 million in liquidations. The Oct 27-28 FOMC meeting is the next major test.

4%The ↑ 85,000 outcome carried a 60% implied probability on Oct 18. That is up 13 percentage points from 47% three days earlier.
Coverage of the rebound points to two macro shifts. 10-year Treasury yields fell on Oct 15, the day of the sell-off. CME FedWatch odds of a rate hike at the October meeting also dropped from about 45% to about 27%. Those moves line up with the contract's rise, but the sources do not establish that they directly drove it.
The move also reverses a hawkish week. The September CPI report on Oct 14 came in hot, with headline inflation at 3.7%. It briefly pushed BTC near $84,000 before a slide to about $80,400. The PPI release the next day then broke the $80,000 floor.
What Could Stop Bitcoin Short of $85,000: Resistance and the Oct 27-28 FOMC
The target sits at the top of the resistance zone. Analysts cite overhead resistance at $84,000 and $85,000, with support at $80,000 to $80,400. Bitcoin failed near $84,000 after the CPI print, so a contract that needs a touch of $85,000 requires a clean break through the level that capped the last rally.
Not every forecaster expects that break. Algoz's Stephen Wundke expects range-bound trading between roughly $76,000 and $83,000 for the rest of October unless a catalyst arrives. That range tops out below $85,000. Investing.com also describes Bitcoin as struggling above $80,000, with whale transfers sending mixed signals. Korean coverage in Business Post reports traders holding back on worries about a US rate hike.
The Fed is the main risk to the bullish case. Policymakers raised rates to 3.75% to 4% in September. The case for $85,000 rests on fading hike fears, so a hike or hawkish guidance on Oct 28 would undercut that premise with only three days left in the month. Strategy's shareholder vote, also on Oct 28, falls in the same window.
Two signals will decide the outcome. The first is a daily close above $84,000 before the meeting. The second is whether the Fed holds rates on Oct 28. Traders can follow the full ladder of strikes on the Bitcoin October price targets market.
