WTI crude will likely settle at or above $86 on Election Day, November 3, 2026, if the Middle East supply scare that pushed the front-month contract to a two-week high near $93.50 on Oct. 12 holds. On Kalshi, the $86 Or Above outcome in the Oil Price (WTI) on Election Day market traded at a 77% implied probability on Oct. 13, up from 62% three days earlier.

Will WTI Be Above $86 on November 3, 2026? Market Says 77%

The contract resolves Yes if WTI's front-month settle on Nov. 3 is above $85.99. Its 14-percentage-point gain over three days followed a 60% period low, a 17-percentage-point swing to the Oct. 13 price. That makes $86 Or Above a strong favorite, though the outcome depends on a single settlement price three weeks out.

Houthi Strikes on Saudi Facilities and Hormuz Tanker Incidents Lift WTI to $93.50

WTI traded in a range of roughly $89 to $94.36 on Monday, Oct. 12, reaching a two-week high near $93.50, according to FXStreet. The drivers were in the Gulf: Houthi strikes on Riyadh's airport and on Saudi oil and gas facilities, with Saudi Arabia vowing a response and President Trump weighing joining strikes, per Forexlive's Monday recap.

Shipping risk compounded the move. A tanker was attacked off Qatar and Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, CNNBC reported, while the IRGC claimed a third supertanker hit a mine in the strait. Aramco CEO Amin Nasser warned global crude supply is "severely tight" until Hormuz reopens.

Russia added a second front. Trump announced a Russia-Ukraine "energy ceasefire," but Russia struck Ukrainian energy facilities the next day, undercutting it and overshadowing a Russian diesel supply proposal.

At $93.50, spot WTI sat about $7.50 above the $86 threshold. That is a spot-versus-threshold gap, not a forecast. No source we found attributes the contract's repricing to these events; the link is an inference from timing.

What Could Confirm or Reverse the 77% Pricing Before Election Day

Technical levels frame the cushion. Investing.com analysis flagged $90 to $92 as key support and $88.38 as deeper support, with resistance at $93.80 to $94.90. A break below $88.38 would leave little more than $2 of room above the threshold.

The rally rests on headline-driven supply fears that can fade. Offsetting forces already exist: OPEC cut its 2026 demand growth forecast to 400,000 barrels per day from 1.4 million, the Saudi East-West pipeline was restored to about 6 million barrels per day after being hit, and the US ran a 4-million-barrel SPR emergency exchange. A Saudi-Houthi de-escalation or reopened Hormuz traffic would test the $90 floor; further attacks on Saudi infrastructure or tankers would widen the gap. Forexlive cited rising tension as the push to new highs, and analysts named US CPI data as the next scheduled catalyst.
